This site was created to celebrate and honor the beauty and majesty
of Bannerman Island. In addition, the Bannerman Castle is in
dire need of preservation. I have found, to my dismay, that over the
years when I talk to local people about Bannerman Island, they have
no clue as to what I am referring to. Many don't even realize that
there is a Island with a Castle on it in the Hudson. This is a sad
state indeed. Therefore, I felt it was necessary to make the public
aware of the Island and convey to them the natural and historical
beauty and importance of this landmark.
The photographs on the site were taken by two local photographers:
Erik Gliedman and Paul Harrington. Both were inspired by the Island
and it's castle early on. If you would like to view more photographs
from either photographer you can visit their web sites. For Erik Gliedman
go to www.TheHudsonValley.com
and for Paul Harrington go to www.FotoLightRoom.com.
The overall goal of this site is to:
1.) Try to educate the public about the Island and Castle.
2.)
Encourage public support for preservation of the Island.
3.) Share the individual beauty that the Hudson River and
Bannerman Island have to offer.
I hope you take away at least one of these goals while here. Thank
you.
